Any tricks to make them last longer please?

I love having fresh flowers in my room. But they can never stay fresh for more than 3-4 days.?
It depends on the flower, some kinds of flowers will not last very long, while others can go on for quite a long time. When you get the flowers, re-cut the stems at an angle, then remove any leaves that would touch or go into the water. Add a teaspoon of baking soda to the water--soap works too. Make sure to add some water every day and don't put the flowers in a spot were it will get really hot or cold(like a window), light is good but too much can kill the flowers.
Reply:The simplest trick is to change the water every day. You'll be amazed at how long the flowers will last. Like us, they prefer fresh water.
Reply:this is not a joke its true try half a cap full of bleach it really works, i didnt believe it at first but tried it and now i always do it
Reply:cut the bottoms of the stems
Reply:use the free plant food they provide or to improve this add sugar or lemonade to the water. Keep the water topped up and not stagnent too. I've had flowers that last for weeks that way!!!!!
Reply:Since you love having fresh flowers so much, have you thought of getting a potted flowering plant? This way, you can water and care for it and keep it alive for the long-term.
Reply:Change the water and re-cut the bottom of the stems every couple of days.
Reply:Yes, Gracie always puts lemonade in the water, works a treat!
Reply:pop an aspirin in the water or some lemonade, they should last longer, glxx
Reply:Putting lemonade in the water helps them stay fresh longer. Or you can try putting a disolving aspirin in the water instead. I love fresh flowers too.
Reply:a spoonfull of sugar or an asprin or a drop of lemonade works wonders. Change the water every couple of days and trim the ends of the flowers. Dont leave near draughts or by a fire or radiator. If you have tulips put a pin prick just below the flower head and they will stay fresh and keep their petals longer
Reply:You might try putting a few aspirins in the water that will help and use room temper water never use cold cold water that shocks them
Reply:To help cut flowers stay fresh longer, add one tablespoon sugar and one drop of bleach to a quart of water. The bleach helps fight bacteria, and the sugar provides energy to the flowers.
Reply:1 table spoon of sugar and 1/4 of bleach
