How do I transport fresh flowers and the wedding cake?

We are driving approx 450 miles in the desert, staying in a hotel, and then another 250 miles to location. So the flowers will be sitting for about 36 hours. We are driving out of the US and it is hard to find a florist in that area so that is out of the question.

How do I transport fresh flowers and the wedding cake?
Fresh flower arrangements will not fare well in a 36 hour ordeal like this and have a high probability of being severely damaged. Wasted money, wasted flowers. It would be wise to have them shipped under refridgeration to either your hotel, wedding site, or post office. This situation would definitely warrant silk flowers in lieu of fresh if you were to drive them that far.

As for the wedding cake, don't even attempt to transport it. Find a local bakery or private cake decorator in the area of the wedding site to make it for you. I do not see it arriving in one piece, nor holding together if you drive it there.
Reply:it might be a little late, but I think you should have got flowers and the cake the last spot you could get from. Just an idea. I'm sure they will be okay if you keep them cold. But 36 hours is a while. I hope the flowers don't mess up. Good luck!
Reply:I did this. I went 7 hours. I put them all in styrofoam coolers. The hard ones. It was fine, just don't over pack them and put the ice in the bottom not on top. Check the ice every few hours. Good Luck. NO silk flowers, yuck!
